It takes a lot of imagination to be a good photographer. You need less imagination to be a painter because you can invent things. But in photography everything is so ordinary; it takes a lot of looking before you learn to see the extraordinary.

Above all, I craved to seize the whole essence, in the confines of one single photograph, of some situation that was in the process of unrolling itself before my eyes.

If you can give any tips on photography to our future 100cameras photogs, what would you say?

But there is another kind of seeing that involves letting go. When I see this way I sway transfixed and emptied. The difference between the two ways of seeing is the difference between walking with and without a camera. When I walk with a camera, I walk from shot to shot, reading the light on a calibrated meter. When I walk without a camera, my own shutter opens, and the moment’s light prints on my own silver gut. When I see this second way I am above all an unscrupulous observer.

100cameras partnered with the independent, non-partisan, Spain based organization, Campo Amor, to best serve the children’s community. Their mission is to provide intermediary services to encourage community development, benefiting those who have been financially, socially and culturally excluded from society. This is primarily accomplished through the education of available public services, medical aide, provision of humanitarian goods, the coordination of disaster relief efforts, small business leadership workshops, and entrepreneurial training.

With that being said, have you seen our Cuban photographers?
You can check them out their photos here.
The neat part is that if you purchase one of their photos, you can help them build community development. So, what do you say?
